| | | | As the anagram suggests, Beacon stands for conferences that focus exclusively on business ethics. The main objective of the series is to promote wide awareness of the significance of ethics in understanding as well as handling current issues in business. Beacon 2007 Beacon 2007 was the first international conference of LIBA on business ethics, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. The conference debated implications of ethics for business operations. The proverbial discord between business and ethics, generally assumed in common parlance, was rationally analysed. The myth was exploded with discussants converging to the consensus that doing business, and doing it in the right way are not opposites and that one is tampered by the other. The conference was a distinctive success with moments of memorable interactions. Beacon 2008 Beacon 2008 addressed the problems of India at cross-roads, when it turned 60 on August 15, 2007. The conference triggered a meaningful and timely debate on current non-inclusive and inequitable tendencies of growth in various sectors. With economic development moving fast, the indicators of an equitable distribution of wealth were not in favour of the unfortunately excluded sections of the society. It was in this context that the debate focused on the principles and practices an inclusive society should advance, especially in business. Beacon 2009 Scheduled for the end of January 2009, the conference is expected to deal with different dimensions in the implications of ethics in the global business scenario. Know More | | | |
