The virtual BMI session conducted on 14th September 2020, was graced by the presence of Mr. Ayananka Bose, award winning Bollywood Cinematographer, who shared valuable experiences of his life.
The speaker started the session with the quote, “Grass is always greener on the other side” and spoke about PASSION, HARDWORK and HONESTY as the driving factors in an individual’s life. Passion is when irrespective of the hardships, we stick to what we are passion about. Honesty is when we keep up with our word and give 200% of all our energy in the right direction. The culmination of the two will lead to hard work. Using the analogy of a sponge, he encouraged the students to be like one, absorbing it all and learning throughout the process. He motivated the students to hold on to their morals, to be ambitious, never give up and reinvent, and adapt themselves, while at the same time not losing one’s own self-respect. He concluded stating that, we all are a sum of our mistakes. Growth takes place through mistakes and defines our identity.
To have such a reputed cinematographer to a casual session, I thought it will be a perfect planned formal talk about the profession but to my surprise, it being so much casual and sliding through his life events was an amazing experience. His down to earth attitude, perseverance and instantaneous words gave a spark of motivation and will be remembered all along. Thank you, BMI, for an inspiring session. – Mark Antony, F19 Batch
Best BMI session, more of life lessons and stress reliever and motivation for the week ahead. – Rini Alphonsia, F19 Batch
The session was full of anecdotes and stories from his career as a cinematographer. Quite an engaging session. He explained realistically that there will always be differences, wherever you go, and to be successful it is important to embrace those differences and find a middle ground. All in all, it was really fun to interact with Mr. Ayananka Bose. – Prateek Sharma, F19 Batch
