Faculty Seminar series – 4

The fourth session of the Faculty Seminar Series took place on 17^th October 2024. Dr. Anjali Daisy presented on “AI/EAI: Can Merging Minds and Machines Decode Human Emotions at the Workplace?” She explored the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and emotional intelligence (EI) in understanding workplace emotions. Dr. Anjali emphasized Daniel Goleman’s assertion that while IQ helps secure jobs, EQ is vital for long-term success. She discussed the roles of the amygdala and prefrontal cortex in emotional processing, highlighting AI’s potential in analyzing facial expressions through convolutional neural networks (CNN) and the need to combine this with emotional competencies for deeper insights. Notably, a research gap was identified regarding the integration of specific emotions and competencies. Feedback from colleagues encouraged refining practical applications and utilizing larger datasets for AI training. Dr. Theophilus concluded the session by thanking the speaker and attendees for their engagement.
