Pongal 2025

LIBAavoor Pongal Vizha – the Pongal celebrations at Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) was held on 9^th January 2025. The procession of dignitaries and students on bullock carts in traditional attire followed by female students with Mulaipari and Thambalam, a peloton of bikes and the Parai (traditional percussion instrument from South India) set the festive tone for the day. Several TV Channels interviewed Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, SJ, Director – LIBA, who spoke about the measures taken to expose management students to the importance of culture and folklore of the farmers. The Pongal-making competition winners were then honoured with Kutralam towels. INARA, the dance club, took center stage with a vibrant dance number followed by rural competitions like Uriyadi, sugar cane breaking, tyre race and tug of war took place between the batches.  A delightful display of traditional folk arts like Parai, Karagam, Thavil, Nadhaswaram, Oyil by folk artists highlighted the lifestyle of farmers and celebrated their indispensable contribution to the society.
