Pongal 2025
LIBAavoor Pongal Vizha – the Pongal celebrations at Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) was held on 9th January 2025. The procession of dignitaries and students on bullock carts in traditional attire followed by female students with Mulaipari and Thambalam, a peloton of bikes and the Parai (traditional percussion instrument from South India) set the festive tone for the day. Several TV Channels interviewed Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, SJ, Director – LIBA, who spoke about the measures taken to expose management students to the importance of culture and folklore of the farmers. The Pongal-making competition winners were then honoured with Kutralam towels. INARA, the dance club, took center stage with a vibrant dance number followed by rural competitions like Uriyadi, sugar cane breaking, tyre race and tug of war took place between the batches. A delightful display of traditional folk arts like Parai, Karagam, Thavil, Nadhaswaram, Oyil by folk artists highlighted the lifestyle of farmers and celebrated their indispensable contribution to the society.
