Seminar on Anti-Drug Abuse
On 26th November 2024, LIBA organised a seminar on Anti-Drug Abuse for the students of LIBA at Dr. S. Xavier Britto Auditorium, as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – Drug Free India Campaign, mandated by AICTE. The session, led by Ms. Anitha Yazhini D., Assistant Professor of Counselling Psychology at Loyola College of Arts and Science, Chennai, addressed the widespread issue of addiction. Ms. Yazhini explored how addiction, whether to substances or behaviours such as technology, can progress from occasional use to harmful overuse, leading to long-term brain damage. She highlighted the effects of addiction on the developing brain, particularly between the ages of 5 and 20. Introducing the “3 C’s” of addiction—Control, Cause, and Cure—she encouraged students to reflect on their own habits and take proactive steps to reduce addictive behaviours. The session concluded with a pledge against drug abuse, reinforcing a commitment to healthy living and supporting those affected by addiction.
