Seminar on Constitution Day
On 26th November 2024, LIBA commemorated the 75th Constitution Day with a Seminar on “Indian Constitution as an Instrument for Economic Growth and Social Justice” at Dr. S. Xavier Britto Auditorium. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Nansi Paulraj, Head of International Relations at Loyola College of Arts and Science, Chennai, who highlighted the Constitution’s crucial role in promoting equality, justice, and human rights. She also spoke about Hansa Mehta’s significant contribution to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and discussed India’s colonial history, the challenges faced by the framers of the Constitution, and its evolution as a “living document” influenced by global ideas. The event concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony led by Prof. P.C. Lakshmi Narayanan, Dean of Academics, who reaffirmed the importance of constitutional values. Students, faculty, and staff actively participated, renewing the commitment to upholding the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
