Annual Library Week Celebrations’23
The Annual Library Week celebrations’23, themed “Read a Byte,” was organized by Reader’s Guild of LIBA from November 21 to 23 November 2023. On November 21st at 10:30 a.m., the inaugural event began with a dispositional prayer led by Dr. Chitra Venkatachalam, Counsellor of Wellbeing followed by a prayer song by the LIBA Choir. Following this the theme was explained, highlighting the transition from physical to digital books in the age of Artificial Intelligence and hybrid reading. A symbolic watering of the sapling preceded the book review of Rev. Fr. Dr. C Joe Arun’s “Business Moves”, featuring insights from Mr. G Olivannam, CEO of Emerald Publications, and Ms. Asini (F22 batch). Dr. Chitra Venkatachalam presented a memento to Mr. Olivannam, and a captivating audio-visual presentation showcased the Readers Guild, emphasizing book promotion and incorporating insightful student perspectives on the featured book.
Rev. Fr. Dr. C. Joe Arun S.J. highlighted the importance of staying connected to our roots and maintaining a grounded approach in life. He shared a personal example by mentioning the significant role his mother played in shaping his life and added, that caring for our society and the people around us is crucial for achieving success and reaching our full potential. Essentially, he emphasized the values of humility, gratitude, and a sense of responsibility towards others as key elements in leading a fulfilling and successful life. The event concluded with the Director distributing badges to Reader’s Guild members for the batch 2023-24.
