The Faculty Lounge at LIBA functions as a place of professional development. Furnished with comfortable furniture, conference table and chairs, and the obligatory coffee-making equipment. The faculty lounge is where our faculty share insights and observations, conduct small and large informal group discussions, lend support, collaborate, brainstorm, share curriculum ideas and voice out their opinions.
Faculty of LIBA everyday come together for a coffee in the morning. The Director, views this coming together as moment of grace for the institute. For it builds bonds between the faculty fraternity. In this coffee time, faculty’s birthdays are celebrated with a brief prayer followed by singing.
LIBA faculty with Reserach Associates had a luncheon in Gymkhana on 1st October. Fr Joe Arun, SJ Director shared his intent for the luncheon: “more we come together the better we become. Every celebration develops bonding that unites in our collective resolve to form our students to become responsible leaders.”
The Faculty Retreat 2023 was held at LIBA, Chennai from 27th to 29th April 2023. Rev. Fr. C. Joe Arun, Director-LIBA, led the group in a prayer for disposition, emphasizing Inner freedom, Awareness, Openness, and Generosity, in addition to sharing perspective of the retreat. He stressed that LIBA must adopt the new paradigm by developing an ecosystem of “Self-Directed Learning” and transforming instruction into a form of accompaniment and mentoring that aids students in developing employable skills for the age of the digital revolution. The Review and the Action Plan of the Academic and Administrative Areas, Centres, and Clubs were presented by the respective Officials, Area Chairs, and the Centre Heads. The Director appreciated and acknowledged the great work done by faculty in the previous year and made constructive recommendations for the upcoming academic year, establishing “Self-Directed Learning” as the focus, with the goal of fostering cognitive abilities, system skills, complex problem-solving abilities, content skills, social skills, resource management skills, technical skills, and physical abilities (health and fitness). For the faculty, the retreat was a revitalizing and reviving event which came to an end with an examen asking God’s blessing on the coming academic year 2023–2024, which they envisioned as metacognitive awareness to facilitate self-directed learning.

A very interesting Chris Mom & Chris Child game was conducted in the beginning of December 2022 until the Christmas Celebration on 22 December 2022. All LIBA family – Faulty, students & staffs participated enthusiastically giving gifts to Chris children and setting task for them. This served to build a rapport among one another and strengthen the bonds that exist among the LIBA family.
