Understanding UTI & Menstrual Hygiene
The Centre for Wellbeing organized an exclusive awareness session on Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) and Menstrual Hygiene for all F25 female students on 5th August 2025 at Learning Hall, LIBA. Aimed at addressing important yet often unspoken health concerns among young women, Dr. Cynthia Alexander, a senior gynaecologist from Chennai with 54 years of clinical experience, covered the causes, symptoms, and prevention of UTIs, as well as the essentials of menstrual hygiene and their impact on overall health. Dr. Cynthia also highlighted the importance of a nutritious diet, regular exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits in regulating hormonal changes and preventing infections. Attended by around 85 students, the program was well-received for its relevance, clarity, and supportive environment, reflecting the Jesuit value of cura personalis by promoting awareness, breaking stigma, and empowering young women to take charge of their health.
