Faculty Seminar Series #9

The 9th session of the Faculty Seminar Series 2024-25 was held on 6^th February 2025. Prof. P. Chandiran’ s presentation on “Exploring Avenues of Integration of People and Goods Mobility Within a City System” focused on city logistics, addressing the challenges of integrating passenger and freight transport in urban areas due to the lack of dedicated infrastructure, leading to congestion and inefficiencies. It highlighted successful models like Mumbai Dabbawalas and international examples such as Cargotram, discussing potential integration strategies like Metro Rail Freight Allocation and Uber Crowd-Shipping for last-mile delivery. The session also featured a lively Q&A, with contributions from faculty who discussed challenges and the need for further simulation studies, feasibility assessments, and policy development.
